P.MA
One of the main interests of this project is to explore the notion of mistakes and errors, originated from analog or digital processes, either induced by the machine or by the user.
The starting point for the project was the Super 8 Series, which were the result of the relationship between image and sound. The awareness of an entity beyond narrative leads to the emergence of a certain degree of tension between representation and conceptual attraction, a relationship that triggers an entirely visual cinematographic experience that differs from person to person. There’s an (un)conscious psychological manipulation that arises from the insubordination of the composition. From the defiance of repetition and rhythm derives a sensation of hypnosis that comes from the direct manipulation of the frame created from the expectations of visual residues. The Super 8 Series have been already shown live with the projects like Lodo (Lobster + Dopo), Katsumoto and Panda Bear (Animal Collective).
Recently the project has been exploring the concept of video feedback. Using analogic tools such as video mixers, color correctors, obsolete cameras, video generators and monitors, it explores the visuals created by the loop signal that is originated by optical and electronic reciprocity.
